Try and get hold of live yeast. It makes quite a difference:
1. mix a tablespoon or so of yeast with warm water and a pinch of sugar. Leave i for 1/2 hour or so to bubble up.
2. sieve flour, 1/2 kilo, pinch of salt, dribble of good oil.
3. make a well in the middle, pour in yeast mixture and add water splash by splash until it's a nice firm dough.
4. Knock it around until it feels really smooth
5. let it rise until it's about twice it's size. put oven on with a tray of water in it. grease tins
6. knock the dough around gently a bit more
7. put it in the tin or tins or just shape it into buns.
8. Bake until it looks and smells brilliant.Anyone have any simple recipes for baking bread in a standard oven?
