Would anybody care to share their good, simple, dessert bread recipes?

This is called Monkey Bread.


you will need 3 cans of biscuits


a stick of butter


sugar


cinnamon


pecans





The amount of sugar and cinnamon depends on how sweet you want it.


Mix the cinnamon and sugar. Melt the butter.


Take some butter and grease a bunt pan.


tear apart the biscuits coat with cinnamon and sugar put about 1/3 in pan drizzle some butter and pecans over it, repeat until finished with the biscuits and butter and pecans


Put in oven at 350 and bake for about 45 mins or until golden.


Let cool some, it tastes great when hot with vanilla ice cream.

CINNAMON SWIRL BREAD





2 c. milk (scalded)


1/2 c. sugar


1/2 c. shortening (1 stick butter)


2 tsp. salt


1 tbsp. yeast


1/4 c. warm water


7-8 c. flour


2 slightly beaten eggs


1-1 1/2 c. cinnamon/sugar


Water


1/4-1/2 stick melted butter





Soften yeast in small dish with 1/4 cup warm water. Scald milk and add sugar, shortening and salt. Cool to lukewarm. Pour milk mixture into bowl and add 3 cups flour and mix well. Stir in yeast and eggs; beat well. Add rest of flour slowly until it makes soft dough. (May not use all 8 cups, less is better.)


Knead 10 minutes on floured surface. Place in greased bowl, turn once and let rise 1 1/2 hours. Punch down, divide, cover and let rest 10 minutes. Roll each piece out to 1/4 inch thick and heavily sprinkle with cinnamon sugar and 1 teaspoon water. Roll from small end and place in loaf pan, seam side down, let rise 45-60 minutes. Brush melted butter on loaves and sprinkle with cinnamon sugar. Bake at 375 degrees for 35-40 minutes.





GLAZED LEMON - NUT BREAD





1/4 c. butter


3/4 c. sugar


2 eggs


2 tsp. grated lemon peel





2 c. sifted flour, enriched


1 1/2 tsp. baking powder


1 tsp. salt


3/4 c. milk


1/2 c. chopped walnuts


2 tsp. lemon juice


2 tbsp. sugar





Cream together butter and 3/4 cup sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs and lemon peel; beat well. Sift together flour, baking powder and salt; add to creamed mixture alternately with milk, beating until smooth after each addition. Stir in walnuts.


Pour in greased 8 1/2 x 4 1/2 x 2 1/2 inch loaf pan. Bake in moderate oven 350 degrees for 50-55 minutes or until done. Let cool in pan 10 minutes, then spoon mixture of lemon juice and 2 tablespoons sugar over top. Remove from pan and cool.Would anybody care to share their good, simple, dessert bread recipes?
Betty Crocker banana bread .... add a couple old bananas
CHEROKEE INDIAN SWEET POTATO BREAD





1 qt. cornmeal or (1/2 qt. meal and 1/2 qt. flour)


1 tsp. soda


3 c. diced sweet potatoes


12 corn blades





Mix cornmeal, soda and potatoes with enough boiling water to make a stiff dough. Knead well to make firm bread. Wash corn blades and scald them in hot water. Put dough on large end of blades and be sure all sides are covered with blade and tie end of blade in a loop. Drop bread in boiling water. Boil 45 minutes.


MOUNTAIN ALTITUDE BAKING:





At all altitudes over 3, 500 feet increase baking temperature 25 degrees.





At 3, 500 feet add 1 tablespoon flour and then add one tablespoon for each 1, 500 feet increase in elevation.





Use maximum amount of egg called for in recipe. If part of egg is needed to make full measure, add white - not yoke.





If recipe calls for baking powder or baking soda - reduce 1 teaspoon to 3/4 - 2/3 from 2, 000 to 3, 500 feet - 1 teaspoon to 2/3 - 1/2 from 3, 500 to 5, 000 feet.
Apple Butterscotch Bread Pudding








Ingredients


Old-Fashioned Bread Pudding Mix


2 large eggs


2 cups 2% milk


1 cup diced apple(peeled or unpeeled)


1 cup butterscotchchips


Prepared Oh, Baby! Brown Sugar Sauce Mix





Directions


Whisk eggs and milk together in a large mixing bowl; stir in Old-Fashioned Bread Pudding Mix


, apple and butterscotch chips. Let stand 20 minutes. Pour mixture into a greased 8 x 8 baking pan. Bake at 350掳 for 35-40 minutes. Top with Oh, Baby! Brown Sugar Sauce. Serve warm or cold. Makes about 8-10 servings.
